Taking to the Streets
Bexhill Lions gave their support to the Streets of Bexhill free street theatre festival organised by 18Hours Events and Education. As well as providing marshals, the Club provided funding for the Inside Out Theatre Company to mentor young people from Glyne Gap Special Needs Faculty in street theatre skills.
The Club were also on the streets for their own Bexhill Wheel and Walk. The Cycling Without Age trike piloted by Cheryl Funnell led the parade and a pirate ship and a shark helped make a colourful sight. Others rode their scooters, pushed wheelchairs and walked as family, friends and carers joined them creating a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Club President Lion Andrea Etheridge commented “Participants put a great deal of effort into their costumes and decorations, which created a wonderful
spectacle along the promenade. There was a real community spirit on the day as participants and their supporters made their way from Galley Hill to the De La Warr Pavilion. It was a very enjoyable event which helped bring people together.”
Refreshments, generously provided by DLWP, awaited the procession after they had crossed the finishing line and collected their medals.
