Sevenoaks Support Spadework
Sevenoaks Lions President Roy Sharrad was very pleased to be able to hand a cheque to Spadeoak in Offham for £1,000.
The Charity which has been running since 1984 offers care, support and meaningful opportunities to over 110 adults with leaning and other disabilities. Running a garden centre, farm shop and cafe.
In 1984 Sevenoaks Lions donated tools and equipment and it seemed only right to follow this up during the Covid19 situation.
None of the students are allowed to attend the centre and the cafe remains closed, but with the help of volunteers the shop is offerring a selection of goods and a box collection service of fresh veggies etc. More recently their garden centre has reopened and is proving very popular.
Not running normally means they are losing a large amount of income daily. They have been crowd funding which has helped and they were especially pleased with Sevenoak’s cheque.
Remaining open has made a great difference to the local community saving many vulnerable people having to go to main supermarkets.
